It's Official! Microsoft Windows 10 will be a free update for present windows users-as long as u Grab it Quickly!!
“We are upgrading all qualified PCs, genuine and non-genuine, to Windows 10.” Terry Myerson, the head of Microsoft's operating systems unit, said on Tuesday ,21st January 2015.
Terry Myerson also said that current users of Win 7, Win 8/8.1, and Windows Phone 8.1 will be able to upgrade to the new operating system for free as long as they do so within one year of Windows 10's launch—even if you are using Pirated Edition. Once you’ve claimed the upgrade, it remains permanent, and Microsoft will keep you updated for the supported lifetime of the device.
Here's the Print from the Windows 10 page on Microsoft's site:
“It is our intent that most of these devices will qualify, but some hardware/software requirements apply and feature availability may vary by device. Devices must be connected to the internet and have Windows Update enabled. ISP fees may apply. Windows 7 SP1 and Windows 8.1 Update required. Some editions are excluded: Windows 7 Enterprise, Windows 8/8.1 Enterprise, and Windows RT/RT 8.1. Active Software Assurance customers in volume licensing have the benefit to upgrade to Windows 10 Enterprise outside of this offer. We will be sharing more information and additional offer terms in coming months.”
By giving away Windows 10 for free, at least for the first year, Microsoft is deviating from its regular sales model for the first time. Announced earlier that Windows 10 will be launching this summer in 190 countries, with the vendor focusing its attention on China.
Lenovo is committed rolling out the Windows 10 upgrade to its customers soon it becomes available, as well as stating that it would launch its first Windows Phone this summer.
Behind Story: Microsoft's plan to forgive piracy in China urgent than in other regions, as companies like Apple and Xiaomi are successfully establishing their own software and services in the country. If Microsoft doesn't want to be left out of grab, it needs legitimate users, even if they come at the expense of licensing revenue. Still, Microsoft's goals of establishing its own services are the same everywhere, so it makes sense for the company to make a push toward legit licenses worldwide.
